Cars in the Park, which will take place at Zwartkops Raceway this August, will provide the backdrop for the much anticipated SABAT sponsored QuadPara Race Day, a day which celebrates the relationship between SABAT Batteries and the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA).
It all began in 1997 when a deal was done to ensure that quadriplegics using power wheelchairs could get access to sponsored SABAT batteries to power their wheelchairs and help to empower their lives. Power Wheelchairs cost between R20 000 and R100 000 and these essential mobility aids allow quadriplegics the freedom and independent mobility they deserve.
The relationships and involvement between QASA and SABAT Batteries has continued to thrive over the years and the opportunity to celebrate this is always keenly anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed. The event is the only one of its kind in the world and culminates with Quadriplegics using their power wheelchairs race against each other on a track to see who is crowned “The fastest Quad”.
This year’s Cars in the Park promises plenty of fun and entertainment on the day. The pride of South Africa’s national vintage and classic cars, a glittering parade of shiny muscle cars and motorcycles will be on display. As an event, the SABAT / QASA Race Day is unique and a fine example of meaningful hands-on corporate social responsibility. "There is a genuine relationship between our oganisation and the team from SABAT," says Ari Seirlis, CEO of the QuadPara Association, "SABAT has provided our members with free batteries for powering wheelchairs over many years and you cannot put a price on the importance of mobility. But it is so much more than that. The SABAT Retail Agents link up with our members around the country and go out of their way to look after them."
As part of the Cars in the Park event this year, SABAT Batteries has invited its customers, their families and members of the Quadriplegic Association of South Africa, to join them for a fun-filled day at the annual SABAT-sponsored Quadpara Race Day.
The day celebrates the relationship between SABAT Batteries and the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA). This relationship began in 1997 when a deal was done to ensure that quadriplegics using power wheelchairs could get access to sponsored SABAT batteries that power their that power their wheelchairs and help to empower their lives.
